Decorating your Garage Door
It’s that time of year again, and we’re all getting ready decorating for the holidays. But before you start hanging up those ornaments, take a few minutes to transform your garage door into a festive masterpiece! Garage doors are one of the first things people see when they pull up next to your house, so yours must be as welcoming as possible. Take a look at these festive garage door ideas that are sure to get you into the holiday spirit.
1. Use Lights
One of the cheapest and easiest ways to transform your garage is by using lights. Start by hanging icicle lights across the top of the garage door. Then, hang rope or tube lights vertically down one side of the garage door. You can weave lights through these as well to create an even more festive look.
2. Incorporate Flowers and Plants
Use flowers, vines, and other greenery to accent the holiday decor on your garage door. First, use a string of lights as a wreath or wrap it around the top of the garage door as a bow. Next, hang garland along the bottom of the garage door and add some cheerful holiday flowers to give it a traditional look. Finally, attach ornaments around the handle, lock, and even along with the hinges.
3. Holiday Wreaths
Another inexpensive and easy way to decorate your garage door is by hanging a traditional holiday wreath. Try using evergreen garland, large red bows, or other festive fabric. You could even use tinsel or fake snow.
4. Create a Holiday Theme
Paint or stain your garage door to create a fun holiday theme. For example, you could stain the garage door red and use an old-fashioned wreath made out of burlap fabric!
5. Garland and Swag
String garland and swag along the top and bottom of your garage door to create a festive look. You can also use this idea for your front door.
6. Holiday Lighting
Another great way to add holiday decor is by using lights and lanterns on either side of the garage door. Use traditional white lights or put some colored lights between for a fun, personalized touch! You could also add some simple wreaths or Christmas characters like Santa Claus on both sides of the garage door as well. There are endless possibilities with decorating your garage door – get creative and see what you come up with!
7. Bells
Using bells that dangle from the garage door is one of our favorites! You can use long strands or shorter ones. If you want to hang more than three rows of bells, try hanging them on different levels of the garage door – this will make it look even more festive and interesting.
If your garage door is looking a little boring, take some time to decorate it this holiday season. It will give the first impression of your house a festive touch that everyone will love.
